Mangosteen (Garcinia mangostana) is a tropical fruit that tastes somewhat sweet and sour. It is native to Southeast Asia but may be found in a variety of tropical locations throughout the world. Because of the deep purple hue of its skin when mature, the fruit is frequently referred to as purple mangosteen.
